Chest-to-Chest/Tummy-to-Tummy Carry

In this position, you will loosen and drop the inner wall of fabric down so that the sling is more like a sash. Place your baby feet first between the sling and your body. For bigger or longer children it helps to lift the child up high (almost onto your shoulder) and grab the feet to guide them into the sling. Once your baby is between you and the sling, pull the bottom edge (used to be the inner wall before it was dropped) so that it hits right behind your baby's knees. A smaller baby should be carried high on your chest and his/her legs will hang down slightly out of the sling (or can be scrunched up in the "fetal position" inside the sling). A larger baby will able to slightly straddle your waist. Make sure that the bottom edge of the sling fabric at least reaches your child's knees. For a toddler, his/her bottom should sink a little and sit into the pouch some so that their bottom ends up lower than his/her knees. Tighten the edges and center of your sling to adjust him/her snugly. The higher you hold your baby in this position, the less strain it will be on your back. Your child's arms can be in or out of the sling in this position.
You can nurse a larger baby or toddler in this position by simply loosening the sling fabric so that they drop lower and their head is at the height of your breast.
